การควบคุมคุณภาพสุขภาพสัตว์ทดลองศูนย์สัตว์ทดลองแห่งชาติ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล เป็นการควบคุมคุณภาพสุขภาพภายใต้เงื่อนไขการเฝ้าระวังภาวะสุขภาพของสัตว์ทดลอง เพื่อให้มั่นใจว่าสัตว์ทดลองที่ผลิตโดยศูนย์ฯ มีคุณภาพสุขภาพได้มาตรฐานสากล เพื่อสร่างความพึงพอใจให้กับผู้ใช้สัตว์ทดลองของประเทศ
ศูนย์สัตว์ทดลองแห่งชาติมีการรายงานภาวะสุขภาพของสัตว์ทดลองเป็นประจำ(Health Monitoring Report). ระบบการควบคุมคุณภาพสุขภาพ(Health Monitoring System).สามารถแบ่งได้เป็น 2 ส่วน คือ
01. การตรวจสอบด้านพยาธิ-สรีรวิทยา (Pathophysiological Monitoring)
– การผ่าชันสูตรซาก (necropsy)
– พยาธิวิทยาเนื้อเยื่อ (Histopathology)
– โลหิตวิทยา (Hematology)
– เคมีคลินิกของเลือด (Clinical Chemistry)
02. การตรวจทางจุลชีววิทยา (Microbiological Monitoring)
– ไวรัส (Virology)
– แบคทีเรีย (Bacteriology)
– เชื้อรา (Mycology)
– ปรสิต (Parasitology)
ศูนย์สัตว์ทดลองแห่งชาติ มีการตรวจสอบความผิดปกติของซากสัตว์ทดลองที่มองเห็นได้ด้วยตาเปล่าโดยการผ่าชันสูตรซาก เพื่อหาความผิดปกติหรือรอยโรคบนอวัยวะ ภายในต่างๆ ของสัตว์ทดลอง ซึ่งจะมีขั้นตอนและวิธีการดำเนินงาน ดังนี้ (Necropsy and Sampling procedures for microbiological monitoring)
