Husbandry environment and equipment from Maximum Barrier and Low Barrier / Strict hygienic conventional (SH conventional) are regularly monitored to prevent contamination.
The health monitoring system is divided into two categories :
Physical monitoring
– Food (Shape, Size, Color, Smell, Insect and Others)
– Water (Color, Smell and Turbidity)
– Bedding (Shape, Size, Smell, Sharp, Insect and Others)
– Air (Air change, Temperature, Humidity, and Pressure)
– Light intensity
Chemical monitoring
– Water (Chlorine and Vitamin C)
– Air (NH3, CO2, and O2)
– Food (Nutrition values)
Microbiological monitoring
– Food (Aerobic plate count (APC), Total coliform count (TCC), Salmonella and Sterility test)
– Water (APC, Pseudomonas aeruginosa detection and Sterility test)
– Bedding (APC, and Sterility test)
– Cage, transfer box (APC, and Sterility test)
– Air (APC)
– Wall, Floor (APC)
– Disinfectant (% Effective to reference bacteria)
